Camellia Tea SERVICES 2012

CAMELLIA TEAS OFFERS MANY WAYS TO ENJOY CHADO, the WAY of TEA

SUMMER 2012 TEA SERVICES (updated Dec. 23, 2011)

There are many ways to enjoy Tea Culture with us here at Camellia House:

a) HOLD A PRIVATE TEA GATHERING:
Just you, or invite up to four guests to join your for a unique and very special experience. Rebecca works with you, the organizer, to customize the event to a special theme, working together on tearoom selection, the type of temae (on of dozens of differing kinds of service, or methods of preparation), as well as favoured themes or colours, or other philosophical elements that a group leader would like to work into the toriawase (utensil selection).

Private Teas Gatherings vary from 2 - 3 hours, depending on the types of Tea ritual you would like to Experience. With a combination of both history, culture and explanation, these Private Tea Ceremony Events are designed to give you and your guests a very special encounter with ancient Tea Culture. Maximum of 5 guests per session . Contact us for more detailed information or to reserve at info[at]camelliateas.net

b) WEEKLY CHANOYU GATHERINGS: On most Monday evenings from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm (some exceptions, contact us for more details on the schedule). We also hold Gatherings on some Thursdays and some Saturday and Sunday afternoons throughout the seasons.

These gatherings are designed to give guests an introductory taste of Chanoyu and the Way of Tea from both experiential and theoretical perspectives. From general information and an introduction to tea production, history and cultures in East Asia, to a general presentation on Chanoyu in the Omotesenke tradition, guests have a quiet, enriching, stimulating and peaceful experience. Each week, Rebecca selects a different theme or area of focus for the guests attending.
An ideal way to begin a week with a few friends, or to enjoy, just on your own.

Rate are $25/person, (including presentation, demonstration, tearoom tour as well as tea and sweet) for a maximum of 5 guests. Contact us for more information or to reserve at info[at]camelliateas.net

b) TEA LESSONS: For those who would like to make the Way of Tea a part of their lives, lessons in Omotesenke are offered. During each 2-hour lesson, students begin with the basics of Tea, progressing gently towards seiza and more complicated temae (preparation methods) over the months and years.

Prospective students first observe lessons of existing students before being accepted into Camellia House and its group of practitioners. In this way, prospective students can first determine if studying the way of Tea at Camellia House is a good fit for all. If you are interested in the study of other schools of Tea, please get in touch and we can make recommendations in the area outside of Omotesenke.
