PRIVATE TEA CEREMONY EVENTS:
Tailored to the interests of you and your guests, Camellia Teas offered
over 40 private Tea Gatherings to celebrate birthdays, special events, occasions and more!

CAMELLIA TEAS OF OTTAWA DEMONSTRATIONS: We offer demonstrations throughout the National Capital Area in English, French and Japanese. In 2011 we offered nearly 50 demonstrations from 15 min - to 3 hours.

Camellia Teas Ottawa Omotesenke Tea Lessons:
Monday afternoons 2 - 6 pm for those interested in taking up the formal study of the Way of Tea. We recommend attending at least 3 weekly gatherings and observing over 5 lessons before arrangements for study are made with the instructor.

Chanoyu (Omotesenke) Practitioners Study group:
Friday afternoons 1 - 5 pm for advanced practitioners only who are fluent in Japanese, have over 10 years of study in Omotesenke and training in Japan. By invitation only.

2011: It was a great honour for Rebecca Cragg of Camellia Teas to volunteer 6 full mornings to assist the Museum of Civilization and their Textile Conservator Julie Hughes to rotate 19 Edo-period kimono for the Japan Exhibition.

5. IKEBANA - The Way of Flower Arranging (Sagagoryu School)

Ikebana classes are available, both group and private sessions. Demonstrations are also a fun way to share the history and development of Ikebana with your friends and colleagues! Contact Rebecca for more details.

CAMELLIA IKEBANA CIRCLE
Camellia Ikebana Circle meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 10 am - noon in the Stepping Stones Art Gallery. Our practitioners are all Japan-trained with over 5 years experience and from the schools of Sagagoryu, Ikenobo, Ohara and Sogetsu.

Participation: for Japan-trained practitioners only.

This is a self-guided tour, with free street parking. You come, bring a book if you'd like, enjoy some of ours, relax and enjoy yourself in the peaceful garden. This is a quiet garden retreat with minimal talking in order not to disturb other garden guests.

2012 GARDENING INFO

JAPANESE-INSPIRED INTRO GARDEN
COURSE : (Taught by Rebecca Cragg at Carleton University)
Days: Fridays, January 20th – February 24th , 2012
T ime: 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Location: Room 124 in Leeds House, Carleton U.
Title: “Understanding and Applying the Japanese Gardening in the Ottawa Area”
Course description : Explore the art, philosophy and principals of Japanese gardening for both interior and exterior application in the National Capital area. Zen-inspired gardening in the home and garden is not only possible, but can be remarkably low-maintenance and affordable alternative. This course will present six major principles of Japanese garden design including in-depth information on traditional tea gardens, dry-stone, stroll, ponds other forms. An introduction to Ikebana and Japanese design principles for the indoors gives students first-hand practical experience with flower arranging, as well as numerous Japanese garden designs and plant lists that are suitable for Ottawa's zone.

NOTE: This same 12-hour course will be taught in 6 classes at Camellia House with details to follow soon!
