INSTRUCTOR PHILOSOPHY - ~Rebecca Cragg
It is my pleasure and honour to share these arts with you and those in your family and community.
My teachers in Japan, and here in Ottawa, have spent a combination of decades training me in Chanoyu, Sencha-Do, Traditional Painting, Ikebana, as well as Kimono dressing in order to share with others what they have taught me.
With their faith, permission and encouragement, I truly feel called to honour their kindness, patience and effort in training me all these years through continuing my own studies and sharing with others what I have been so blessed to experience.
At McGill, our education professors taught us that as teachers, it is essential always to remain a student. In life, I, and many others, strongly believe there is no 'mastery' or 'perfection'. The instant we begin to allow the term 'master' to be used to describe us, we falter in our humility and fail to see those who walk the path of knowledge and understanding before us. My teachers in Japan and here in Ottawa continue their own training each week and month; studying for 50 years and more. I strive to follow their own passionate example and encourage that within all Camellia House students.
We are all on a continuum of learning, improving, exploring and enriching our souls. I therefore remain committed to practicing these arts myself and seek ongoing training at every opportunity. I return to Japan as well to study intensively as part of my commmittment to the arts, my teachers and of course, my students!
Join me and the warm-hearted Camellia Teas students!
ART truly nourishes the soul. Explore these traditional arts, and share forward with others in your family and life!

Mastery of the Way of Tea requires thorough understanding of the moral and spiritual principles underlying it, erudition in terms of its literary, historical, and artistic foundations, and the ability to pull all these together rin one's training and actualize them in one's practice.”
